I. The present progressive tense with “always”:

Form: S + was / were + V-ing.
II. The past progressive tense:
Use: Thì quá khứ tiếp diễn dùng để diễn tả hành động đang xãy ra tại một thời điểm xác định trong quá khứ. Trong câu có các trạng từ chỉ thời gian như: at... last..., from...to…, between... and...

Use: dùng để chỉ hành động đang xảy ra trong quá khứ thì 1 hành động khác xen vào. (khi . đang. thì bỗng.)
Ngoài ra: While còn dùng để chỉ 2 hay nhiều hành động xảy ra song song cùng 1 lúc trong quá khứ
Ex: My father was watching TV while my mother was cooking .
